Elegant Teleprompter Pro is a teleprompter application for Android, intended for recording, presenting, and speaking to camera. Scripts are imported from device storage or a cloud service and scrolled at a controllable rate.
Three features are what make it a teleprompter rather than a text viewer that moves. Mirrored text is the first, because a physical prompter rig reflects the screen through angled glass placed in front of the lens, and the text must be reversed to read correctly after that reflection. Bluetooth remote control is the second and matters more than it sounds, since reaching for the screen to adjust speed is visible on camera and breaks the take, whereas a handheld control operated out of frame does not. Independent adjustment of scrolling speed, text size, and line spacing is the third, and the reason all three are needed separately is that the comfortable reading rate depends on how much text is visible at once, so changing the size without being able to compensate with speed produces a prompter that runs ahead of the speaker or lags behind. Getting those three matched to a particular speaker and a particular distance from the screen is the setup work, and it is worth doing once and saving.
It does not record, so it is used alongside a camera or a second device rather than replacing one. On a phone the usable reading distance is short, which makes a tablet the better host for anything beyond close work.
